Indian Writings is named for the Anasazi Native American petroglyphs which exists in this area. It is one of the oldest Philmont camps, first used in 1939 as part of Philturn Rocky Mountain Scout Camp. In the old days, it was referred to as “scribblins,” but now it’s called “IW.”
