Cimarroncita Legacy Boards

This property got its start in 1907 as a wilderness recreation facility for passengers of the St. Louis, Rocky Mountain, and Pacific Railway excursion line. In 1930, the facility was purchased and became known as Cimarroncita Camp for Girls. By 1936 it expanded to add the Cimarroncita Camp for Boys, and both camps remained in operation until 1995, when they were closed. In 2005, the facility was reopened as an outdoor recreation resort which closed permanently in the fall of 2014. In 2015, the BSA purchased the 2,684-acre parcel of land adjacent to Philmont. First used as a staffed camp in 2021.
